The Kingdom Assignment

This page displays PAST assignments. They are NOT current but are here to assist in others in developing thier own assignments.

May 15-August 28th, 2005

Just what is a Kingdom Assignment? Well, the assignment is a combination of several things, really.

First, it's an exercise of faith, It is a stretching of our imagination, A sharpening of our skills and abilities, A stepping out.
It's a challenge, A project of love, A service, It's Worship.

In the parable of the talents, in Matthew 25:14, the master entrusted his servants with talents, which was a form of currency. Talents was not a skill or natural ability as we think of it in today's world. There are some similarities and parallels, however.

As a challenge to the congregation, each year Pastor Art entrusts a 'talent' to us. We are to take that talent, and as instructed, to give part of it away and then to use the other part to increase it according to our abilities. This is Our Kingdom Assignment. We take our assignment seriously and consider it an honor to be participating.

The Parable of the Talents

14 Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them.

15 To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

16 The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more.

17 So also, the one with the two talents gained two more.

18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money

After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.....
